Hi guys.

72 swing axle Marathon Beetle
Stock 4.5j et34 rims banded 2" to 6.5j with the band going on the outer face. What does that make the et now?

205/60/15 tyres going on them, will they fit under standard arches or do I need short axles?

Also, theyre currently being powder coated silver but I need to paint the black centres.
Any advice?

I think you're going to need shorter axles and tubes. Once upon a time I had some 4x130 4 1/2" Sprintstars widened 1 1/2" to the inside for the back of my '72 Canadian Standard (swingaxle) Cal Look car. With short/short (>'66) axles/tubes, type 3 rear brakes, 185/70's, and lowered 1 spline, the tires and wheels sat right where they belonged. People were surprised when they realized there were 6" wide rims under the fenders.

Hope this helps. Al

I don't remember exactly- this was the late '70's/ early '80's. The Sprintstars were on the car for 8 or 9 years. I think the offset and backspacing of original 4 1/2" Sprintstars are close to a stock 4 1/2" VW wheel. The front end was a stock width beam with a select a drop, Ghia discs, 135's, the centers of the headlights were 19 1/2 or 20" off the ground and the tires didn't rub on the fenders. Al
