I am newbie to this site and your build. First of all WOW, very cool. I am a hobby painter as well, so relate to your work here. As you know they should call it "prepping". Painting is about 1% of the process.
Wish I had a good comment for controlling runs of the clear on vertical surfaces, it is a fine skill that I have yet to master.
Anyway, mostly curious about your suspension and wheel setup - care to share how you arrived at this? Components and such.
Cheers |

Thanks for the compliments. Due to my paint inexperience I will be busy shaving runs b4 I can start the wet sanding and buffing process. Fortunately I have 3 full coats of high solids euro clear applied so I’m not concerned with sanding down to the basecoat.
My suspension is pretty basic.
Rear:
*5 speed(Transform) swingaxle
*CB Perf rear disc Porsche 5 lug pattern
*2” Porsche to Porsche adapter/spacer
*18”x9” Porsche Boxster alloys with 255/35 tires
Front
*2” narrow from beam with adjusters
*CB Perf 2” disc brake dropped spindles I modified to mount 996 calipers
*Porsche 996 front calipers
*Ghia front rotors modified into a hub & redrilled to Porsche pattern
*Porsche 996 rotors fitted over the ghia modified rotors
*1” Porsche to Porsche adapter/spacer
*18”x7.5” Porsche Boxster alloys with 215/35 tires
I have a 2” narrow swaybar yet to be installed and will be looking at options for the rear.
Future upgrade will be Porsche Boxster 4 piston rear disc brakes |

Wife and I disagree on the carbon fiber hood. She thinks I should leave it alone. I want to paint it the same blue & leave portions of the carbon fiber unpainted & exposed. I’ve never been a fan of VWs with the fenders and hood painted in a different color than the rest of the body. That’s ok for the vintage look but not the look I’m shooting for.
Probably why I didn’t like my last paint scheme as well as the 80s graphics.
If I don’t like how it turns out I can always sand it off and reclear the cf.

All cf hood is starting to grow on me. I reserve the right to make a final decision once she’s completely assembled and in the 🌞. The black painted rocker panels will get the carbon fiber overlay treatment.
I think I will use some blue painters tape to create some painted sections on the hood to help me decide. Any thoughts on potential front turn signals? I could mount these to the nerf bars but I don’t like the idea of all these wires in plain view.

Carbon Fiber hood buffed out well after sitting in the corner of the garage for almost 20yrs under layers of dust and overspray.

Porsche headlights hi/low seem to play well with the Watson wiring kit and VW hi/low indicator.

Yes…I originally did that because I thought I was going with some type of blowthru turbo setup with the carb mounted behind the fan shroud. Not sure at this time what direction engine wise I’m going. Thinking of switching out the 94s on my 2332 with some thickwall 92s & get a set of CB wedgeports, or Steve stage II heads and just go with my nos 48 Dells.
If $$ works out I may still get a RodneyAdams Design blowthru Holley setup.

That same VW GTI plaid will go on the seat inserts.
