I need to install a 12V cigarette lighter socket power plug in my 67 bus, that's not a deluxe bus and never had a cigarette lighter in, it to keep things like my cell phone charged for work and was just wondering if any of you have done this before and could recommend one that I can install without cutting a hole in the dash? I installed one in my '63 and grabbed a cheap one off the shelf from the local auto parts place.
It came with a little "L" bracket to mount it.
You can mount it under the dash with drilling the actual dashboard.
I installed on my radio bracket but only because it was easier and my Bus has a radio in the parcel tray.
You can see it on the right side of the radio here

Thanks Everett, that other thread has some good idea's and I checked autozone for one like you have in your bus but they dont seem to carry any with the bracket like you have on yours anymore but I think I can make one pretty easy or maybe find one on ebay that might work. _________________ Looking for Groovy Bumper Stickers? I'm probably too late- but I'd bet a donut any truck stop would have one. We've got competition from several FLAPs stores here too- O'Reillys, NAPA CARQUEST, etc. Autozone is a regular disappointment here. _________________

Might be worth having a look at ‘the geek shack’ as they do a hidden usb socket, mounted on the speaker holes. I’m sure they’ve got a US distributor as well. |
