Fabolously looking! Is the two-tone paint scheme on the stock rims original for that SB model? _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Yes but the way Kris re-did them is the proper color scheme with the correct Type 3 hubcaps
Close-up of my spare tire (same colors)

Too much to learn, too much information, too rich history, that's how our vw hobby is all about!
Thanks,

We took the Notchback on a cruise to the Snoqualmie summit over the weekend with some other VW's.
Great day for a drive and just a little vapor lock hassles at the top before driving back down.
Here are some nice pictures for motivation to drive your VW's.

Wait what? How did you not see me? I saw your girl, the dog then thought maybe it wasn't you because I never seen them, thought then maybe it wasn't your car
I was there an hour before you all. So when you got there I did a quick looky then bailed.

To funny. I did not even notice a Bus with a trailer and don't see it in any of my pictures.
Sorry I missed you.
I did head to the brown building right when I got there and I bet I missed you then and you left before I walked back. |

At El Prado we were talking about the early vs. later front emblems and how for the early one the impression on the hood is larger.
I had a loose early badge so here's them overlayed on each other to see the small size difference.
Early is 85mm
Later is 82mm

From a company that was proud of it's "no change for the sake of change" philosophy, this change seems just plain silly! |

Thanks for the comparison. Now my guess is that the hood changed when the emblem changed? I forgot to ask you if your squareback has the sidemarkers blink with the turn signals? _________________ '68 Lotus White T34 automatic sunroof

Did you look close at the 62 above? My old blue one? I always noticed that the crown where the VW sat was pronounced and looked higher and crisper than on later cars. _________________

Yes, as far as I know that is true and would be necessary.
Yes, my Canadian '63 has amber side markers that flash with the turn signals.
I also checked my seat belt installation but it doesn't have the clean welded-on plate like your car.
It appears to be a simple bolt drilled through the pan with a big washer:

Crazy details. My 63 notch had euro style side markers. Key had to be out, and turn the signal on for that side. True parking light. All these details are awesome, I thought the blinking side marker was custom but cool and smart. My late 64 sunroof had blinky side markers. Push pulls but red needles.
My 65 had push pulls white needles of course, no side markers at all. American Air Force car _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |
