OK, let's talk about side marker lenses again. Everyone knows there are a correct R and L for the clear/ red version, but what about the amber ones?

I've got 12 NOS amber lenses and they're all the same side - I've not seen the 'right' side and curiousity has me looking for them.

Thanks. I bought an NOS pair from a really great Samba seller. I was surprised to see I got both left sides. This seller assures me he's never seen a left and right amber lens, only the red and white ones. Sure enough, the only references I could find to a true left and right lens is in the red/ white with no mention of amber.

Of course this is going to bug me crapless till I get a definitive answer. If you unearth anything, please let me know. I can't believe they would do L/R in R&W but only L in Amber, but who knows? Laughing

My super original '63 Squareback has 2 left sides on the car.
Left side is readable, right side is upside down.

Well, that's a pretty good endorsement of ambers being all lefties (and that suits me just fine anyways, LOL.). Thanks!

This is a North American delivery car with the M code and is quite original so I am sticking with it.

I've never seen a right side amber lens - I have had a few of them in red/white...does seem odd they'd only make them in one color option but then again, there was a lot that Volkswagen did that didn't make sense...some bean counter probably caught wind of the two sided lenses and asked why they needed two molds to make one product...not sure why they didn't just use the same mold (or maybe they damaged/broke it)...could be any goofy reason.

Here is a picture of 7 of my 12 - all left side:

Not doubting they exist, we've seen them. I'm just wondering where VW references or lists this part.
