While in the process of replacing all my old, brittle fuel lines I noticed I had 1 original hose bib that I needed to remove and put in a replacement section going to the injector from the rail. When I removed the injector bundle I also noted that the o ring seals at the end of the injectors also need to be replaced -see pics...
Also while cycling the key on and off I also noticed a fuel leak coming from the base of the injector where the yellow plastic end meets. When under pressure from cycling it is leaking. I doubled checked to make sure it was not coming from the weep hole area on the side of the yellow plastic-see pic. The pick tip is pointing to the area of leakage.
My question is, based on the area of leakage does the injector need replacement? Also where can I get the smaller o ring seal at the end of the injector. The larger upper base mounting o rings seem good.
Thanks for the info you guys will supply
Jim

A few comments...
If the injector body leaks then it should be replaced.
I suggest you use FI clamps, not those worm clamps. They are easier on the hose jacket. Your FLAPs should carry them, sized for 5/16" hose.
Those tip seals are critical to avoid vacuum leaks.

The o-rings are linked above. Injectors can be bought at just about any parts house. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |

Today I found the injector o-rings seals, both large and small. For others looking for the part numbers where you go:
1.Large seals #311 133 263
2.Small seals #311 133 261
I am still looking for an injector. Any one know where to find? NAPA, AutoZone?
Thanks |

A couple of notes:
For the record...there is no "weep" hole in the injector body. As others noted you need a new injector.
As for seals.....if I were to still use the factory seals (which I dont because they range from adequate at best down to outright, suck on a normal basis).....I would only buy the Echlin brand available from NAPA. They are a much better molding and material.
If you want a better seal all, around....switch to CIS injector seals. They fit dead tight around the injector, have more meat for compression, center the injector better and come in viton so they last much longer.
Many years of many cars used the CIS seal...but you can order for an 80 model rabbit or an 82 saab 900 for sure. Look for the green viton seals. Ray |

I found a company named The Fuel Injection Corp that can repair/rebuild my leaking injector. They quoted me a cost of $40 for the service plus shipping. I sent it out this week after finding it very difficult locating either a used or new injector. I will keep you all posted with the end result. |

Here's a link to new injectors. They're not cheap though.

I recently updated all fuel hoses and also clean the injectors in ultrasound. Be careful not to break the Bakelite.
The gasket material must be viton http://mrinjectoruk.co.uk/
As the tank in empty change the tank prefilter.

Is there a torque spec for the two bolts that hold the bakelite in place? |

I want to say 7 to 10 pounds. Keep in mind you're squeezing the rubber seals. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

There were originally metal sleeves that slip over the studs to prevent over torquing and cracking the bakelite. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
