This carpet is from my 1967 VW Beetle convertible - is this original? The heater grommets are vinyl/cloth (should be rubber?), and the stitching on the back looks a bit slipshod, but the front looks good. Thoughts?

The slipshod Karmann stitching... is still holding .. maybe it was a Monday morning after a late night German Sunday..
"Das Gutenuff Klaus"
Typical Karmann ... as convertibles were pretty much hand built from knock down partial Sedans.
No body really cared to what is not seen hidden underneath.
Sure it could have been trimmed neater.. but.. that just hinders production time. ....and adds labor cost..
Here is an original 67 convertible (member aircooled) carpet and rubber mat .. it's the same..
It would not have been rubber.. it should be the same material as the edging.
