What's your budget?

Best engine is totally open ended. Naturally aspirated or forced induction? Type 1 or Type 4 or Subaru?

Does anyone in this forum have a performance based super beetle with upgraded suspension , brakes, etc. and I was wondering what engine is the best for performance and price. Was looking at cb performance for engines and not quite sure what would need to be upgraded to make the power bearable.
