i thought i would document this for future reference since i couldn't find anything the same as my setup.

what I have is EMPI discs front and back, and short axles in the rear.
the existing 6.5" widened stock wheels have 195/65r15 rear and 185/65r15 front. i do have some rubbing at full lock on the front.

rear wheel/tire 195/65R15 measures
3.25" from the hub face to the front of the tire
4.75" from the wheel face to the back of the tire
4" sidewall from the rim edge
8" section width of the tire mounted on the rim

front wheel/tire 185/65R15 measures
3.00" from the hub face to the front of the tire
4.5" from the wheel face to the back of the tire
3.875" sidewall from the rim edge
7.625" section width of the tire mounted on the rim

with the 17"ET40 radar mounted on the back there is zero clearance on the springs plate, and the upper rubber stop flange needs to be ground back.
I added 1/2" of spacer after I ground it off and there is 1/4" to the spring plate

and the same to the upper stop flange

So it looks okay as long as we don't go any wider than the wheel on the tires 205/50R17 is what i am planning for the rears, they are the same OD and width of the 195 that I am currently running.

the fronts are another story. at full lock with no spacer they rub on both sides, trailing arm, and fender well

So again added 1/2" of spacer and using my cardboard tire profile for a 205/50R17 the clearance is ... Yoinks! yes you can see where my current tires are polishing the fender well at full lock.

this is the room I have with my tire profile when the wheel is straight.

So my options are limited on smaller tires for the front 195/45R17 not much available, 205/45R17 about the same diameter as the current 185's , or match the rears 205/50R17 which will limit the turning circle for sure.

So anyone have any real world experience with the tire sizes on 17"

and the spacers from CIP C26-603-100-2, is there someone else that makes nice 1/2" thick wide 5 spacers?

Have you thought about going to a 195-40-17? I think the Honda Civic guys run that size on their cars.

Ordered a pair of BFG g-force sport comp 205/50R17 to fit up on the rears , we’ll see how they fit on the front and decide what to do from there. I have a pair of 1” spacers for the front and I have 4 3/8” and 4 1/4” spacers to play with on the rear, there is no way you could put a set of 17”et40 without some spacers on my setup.
There is not much available for smaller than 205 width in the 17’s in a fun sticky tire. Sumitomo S drive has dropped all their smaller 17’s, 195/45R17 would have been ideal

So this is how we stand now 17x7et40 with 205/50R17 rear and 205/45R17 front 1” spacers on the rear and 3/4 front. I could run 3/4” all the way around, but didn’t have enough of the thinner spacers

Looks good. Any rubbing? What did you use for lug bolts/nuts?

no rubbing unless you are at full lock and there is a smidge. Still less than the 185/65R15, they made a bare spot on the inner fender. The 1" spacers came with longer bolts and the wheels came with long enough bolts for the 3/4" spacer

took it for a drive to settle things and see it in the sunshine

So, how do you like it now? Does it ride a little rougher?

The ride isn’t too bad, I thought it would be worse, the tire pressure is set a couple psi over stock at the moment

How did you convert from 4 lug to 5. Conversion or adaptors?

it's a 65, it always was 5 lug, but it does have Empi disc brake kits on both front and back
