Hi folks.
Picked up these new looking "Pathfinder" (not Nissan) mirrors for $10 CND, still in the box.
They look ~ 2-3" longer than the stock power mirror so maybe not much heavier.
I see the LT mirror bracket design.
Would a bracket mounted only at the stock mirror mount keep this mirror stable at freeway speeds? Make bracket out of aluminum? (would probably use mild carbon steel since I'd likely need to weld it)
Just a rambling "what if" thought if I found a Vanagon requiring an inexpensive mirror upgrade; these would not be attractive, aesthetically speaking.
edit: hypothetically speaking, these mirrors would be used on a Vanagon with early style mirrors.
Neil.

What don't you like about the aero mirrors that may require an upgrade? _________________ - Jim

That kind of mirror yo'll really want to build somethingthat suppoots it top and bottom. LT/Syncro16 style, or look up "junior west coast mirror" for inspiration.
You'd be drilling holes most likely... |

Pic shows mirrors that I like and will stay mounted. Used them as a visual reference.
Was thinking about possibility of mounting the non OE mirror to another Vanagon with old style mirrors. Will edit first post to show that more clearly.

Thanks Tristessa.
My plan was to build a two arm bracket to support upper-lower mount and mount that to the stock mount point. Even so, I can see more clearly that the mirror would likely be unstable under certain conditions.
