Next project for the Garaj Mahal is a '66 EZ Camper.

Main issues to tackle here are a few cases of extreme rustosis in the lower windshield frame and the lower front nose.

Also, the forward rocker on the driver's side could use some addressing!

And the tired motor will be replaced by a freshened up 1600 SP.

All in all it looks like a pretty nice bus. That rocker doesn't even look like a full redo.

Nice score!

Not "my" score. Just another job in the Garaj Mahal. Cool

This is how bad it really is!

Previous "repair" shows filler around then existing rust on the windshield frame!

The headlight fixtures, though rusty, look like they can just be cleaned up and repainted.

From the Klassic Fab Funky Green metal offering, I believe these will be needed, the lower nose section and the outer valance!

Here's the lower windshield frame from them too!

And finally, the driver's side rocker...

I'll most likely use only just enough to cancel the rusty section of the rocker. Cool

Hey, what can I say...it was an early attempt at repair. There's bondo, fiberglass, and metal filler all up in there. Also, that repair was about 30 years ago.

I'll get stuff ordered up Pyro!

It's a job! Cool

Couple of "issues" that needed removal or replacement:

Ripped metal heater hose

It was using too much Windex to keep them all clean. I just bondoed them closed and turned it into an EZ camper! Much more functional.

So, having done a couple of these already, and realizing how much of pain it is to make fit in one piece, I opted to go a different route and sliced it into 3 parts. The center and the 2 sides. Still a pain as it’s taken 2 days just to fit the center and the driver’s side.

Also opted to graft the ends rather than going all the way and wrapping the edges. That creates more work and extra “finishing”, in my estimation. Confused

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these buses were put together by hand. There were no precision robots doing it. NO two buses are exactly alike. Also, the “new” skins produced today are copied from other buses. So, there will ALWAYS be some trimming and adjusting to make parts fit to your particular bus. Confused

You’re extremely lucky if you happen to slap something in and it fits perfectly. Laughing

(Just got it welded, now the grinding party starts...)

Looking good, Ivan! Hey, while you've got the nose opened up, let me know if you find anything. A friend of mine dropped a pen in there about 25 years ago.
