Hi
Found this when I visited the big VW-event in Hannover, Germany, yesterday:
I have not seen this one before. Do anybody know more about it?
Aerosilver posted a picture of a catalog for the lowlight cab from january 1958.
This one is dated october 1955:

Nice find! Very early! I'd like to look through that..
The one I posted is a provisional parts list for the cabriolet. |

Yes, I guess it is rare
I can tell that it is not a complete parts list. The available colors for the car is mentioned, but the black color is not on the list as an option.
There are added some changes here and there, in writing, but also small sheets of paper with partnumbers.
Was the Provisional Spare Parts List only made for the Karmann-Ghia? I have not seen any on other VW-models. Maybe because the Karmann-Ghia was built by a another company, not VW.
Regards

hi from Germany.
Maybe they dont have had enough time to make the correct partlist for july 1955. notice that the official day to Show the new karmann ghia the public was in August 1955. but mr. Nordhoff changes the day from end of August to the famous 14. 07. 1955. so i'm sure that you own a RARE partlist. wow. is there a wiring Diagramm in it?
About the 14. 07. 1955 you can read more in my book in future. the prototype of my book is Ready
but it needs some time to bring it to the market _________________ Searching for a 1956 lowlight karmann ghia with a VIN number between1273054 and 1273440, and the matching engine with an Engine Number between

My guess is a temporary publication until the official parts list was compiled/published. Yours looks more 'official' , mine is just A4 paper stapled together. It came in a 57 parts list. Has anyone got a spare parts list dated 1956? All the ones I've seen have been Jan 57 or later.
Interesting about the colours, the cabriolet version I have doesn't list all the colours either.
Udo, put me down for a copy of the book

Hi tomas,
is it possible to get a copy/scan from that book.
It would be great to see if there are some very early 1955 parts mentioned. I would like to see that should be on my october 1955 ghia _________________ Dutch Karmann-Ghia and coachbuild lover.

Hi
Unfortunately there is not any wiring diagram in this list.
I would also like to buy your book, Udo. Is it possible to get the prototype:-) ?
I will publish some more pages from the this part list.
Here is an example of the data mentioned:
It seems that there was a change where the hinges on the doors were placed up to body no. 1700 and onwards. The doors, as spareparts, were after that delivered from the Karmann-factory without the hinges, so they would fit all cars. Anybody heard about that before?
Regards

Hi Tomas,
Check the mouting positions of the doorhinges on your 55 and you will notice the different.
On the first 1700 car the mounting holes of the upper door hinges were closer together. I guess that was a weak point so they improve it.
i don't know the difference for the lower hinge. _________________ Dutch Karmann-Ghia and coachbuild lover.
