I need to change all of my urethane motor mounts including the broken rear ones Took the engine out and disconnected the shifter rod, loosened the clutch cable. The question I have, do I have to disconnect the CV joints to get the transaxle to move enough to the rear to replace the front mount with a stock one?

I'm under the impression that you can pry the transmission enough rearward to replace that front mount without disconnecting the CV/driveshafts at one end. But I've never tried that, replaced the front mount in my 1970 last year while the transmission was out (and the factory front mount was still OK, unless I replaced that in the early 1980s and just forgot !!!). _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
