Finally got a throttle positioner that I was able to take apart and clean. Checked the diaphragms and they're all good, just need to get some vac line on it.
Question, has anyone mounted theirs like so? I figure you wouldn't because usually people have the single piece one and if they have the dual it's already mounted where the factory put it. Will the mounting angle affect the vacuum or the altitude corrector inside? I guess I'll find out when I hook it up.
Also throw back to one year ago when my engine looked like this

The angle shouldn't make a difference, temperature may be the only issue (although early ones are mounted nearby there), I guess you'll find out.

I disagree BD, that altitude corrector will self destruct mounted that way. I give it a month, tops! _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Love those things. Basically just fine grit sand paper but still. My seat covers are under a few layers of other seat covers, just gonna skip right to getting those reupholstered. |
These, if you want OEM style. Make sure you specify year. The jump seat changed over the years. Some of the jump seat back rest are square some are tapered (trapezoidish) investigate it.

These guys have the mustard upholstery also and are out of Denver. The catalog is a little weird to read, I just called and ordered. Not sure if they are cheaper then the link Xevin posted but they are in the US.

Agree the catalogue is hard to tell if it’s the same material or just something close. For me it’s got to be the same as original or might as well go full custom. NLA seems cheaper too for some reason.
It would be nice to compare the two when you get your set. |
I bought a set of NLAVW mustard covers for my 73 camper from the ad that is always on here in the classifieds and then went to Sewfine to have them install them (I live in Denver). I'm not sure if the covers originated at NLAVW but they did come from England. I didn't know about NLAVW at the time. Sewfine showed me their material and I was able to look and feel both at the same time. I chose the Sewfine material and it is so close to original it is almost indistinguishable. My stool is original and the rest is Sewfine. I had them replace all the foam also (except in the stool).

That looks great. I think all the vendors of these materials have stepped it up in making them closer to OG. Hoody just showed me recently what the carpet choices look like now as opposed to what I dealt with 4 years ago. They have been improved.
I thought 73 had that one year only mustard cloth? _________________

Yes, this bus had mustard cloth but after having a 67 SO42 for many years (sadly sold in 1995 to buy my wife's engagement and wedding rings) when I had my 73 interior done I wanted the mustard vinyl I had been so accustomed to in the 67. Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of cloth interiors in any car, really. This is what I started with:

I hate the mustard cloth, I had a '73 tintop with it. The mustard vinyl is my favorite of all the years. _________________ 1979 Transporter (sold)

I like all of that, I'm still back and forth on what I want to do for the seats but I need to do it soon. The duct tape holding the bed together is giving way.
I feel like I've been doing so much on this car and not much is showing. Doesn't really matter as I'm enjoying it. So far I have about 8k miles in my ownership and 5k are on my 1600. I think by now it might be broken in. Still has ridiculously good oil pressure, so I think in my opinion and speculation that kind of shows that if you spend way too long debur and love on your case during assembly it helps out.
Here's some pics of what I've done recently. Laid wire for current and future accessories, and I painted the sill on the slider. I kind of rushed it knowing that I was going to do it again anywho. I'm going to rip everything out again and paint the whole inside white.
Got a 5 channel amp mounted. I think I went overboard on a 1800w, but oh well.
And the life changer is the MR040 fridge. I have to say having a fridge in your car is amazing. Now I can go to the grocery store before running other errands and not worry about my brauts or brews getting warm.
