So, my Wife and I were talking the other night and she said "You should really look for another Vanagon."

Now, keep in mind that she with her physical limitations is a good part of the reason why I moved my Van along down the road ........

Shes been unemployed so.....
Right now with finances are tight...... it just isn't in the picture unless I stumble across a
" just take it!....... GET IT OUT OF MY YARD NOW!!!"
Type of a deal.

Heavy Sigh.......

I'll keep my eyes open........

Dave

We all knew this day was coming and are happy that it finally has.

What are your preferred parameters?
- Auto or Manual?
- Full Westy, Weekender Westy, Sunroof, Tin top?
- 1.9L, 2.1L or Diesel?
- How dead is too dead? Are you willing to replace engine or trans?

This will be fun. Let us know so we can keep an eye out for your next van.

Is this the second thread we’ve had along these lines?

I think the last thread turned up a few good candidates for Dave.

I wonder if a domestic van or Sprinter will come up. I recall space for a head was also a possible need/want.

I do enjoy these little chats.

Dave, Dave, Dave ...

Unless I'm mistaken, you've been married long enough to know that this in fact means that since selling the Vanagon you've been getting underfoot around the house, and generally making a nuisance of yourself.

The dear Missus simply longs for the days when you contentedly occupied yourself for hours on end out in the shop, hand burnishing CV joint hubs and whatnot ...

The poor woman just wants her kitchen back. Please, Dave, have a heart and buy another Vanagon!

That's actually how I read it too. Very Happy She knows it'll be three years before they actually hit the road with it. And the Samba will benefit from another awesome build thread. Win-win-win.

Oh, yeah??? Well, if I'd had just a few more beers, I'd say we might've been in for a round of fisticuffs...

PS - Tobias: I performed my own version of "The Daves I Know" just last fall at a school variety show... Love it! Wink

PPS: Is it too soon to re-post the underappreciated work of Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel...??? (I think not)...

Quote:
TOO MANY DAVES - Dr. Suess
Did I ever tell you that Mrs. McCave
Had twenty-three sons and she named them all Dave?
Well, she did. And that wasn't a smart thing to do.
You see, when she wants one and calls out, 'Yoo-Hoo!
Come into the house, Dave!' she doesn't get one.
All twenty-three Daves of hers come on the run!
This makes things quite difficult at the McCaves'
As you can imagine, with so many Daves.
And often she wishes that, when they were born,
She had named one of them Bodkin Van Horn
And one of them Hoos-Foos. And one of them Snimm.
And one of them Hot-Shot. And one Sunny Jim.
And one of them Shadrack. And one of them Blinkey.
And one of them Stuffy. And one of them Stinkey.
Another one Putt-Putt. Another one Moon Face.
Another one Marvin O'Gravel Balloon Face.
And one of them Ziggy. And one Soggy Muff.
One Buffalo Bill. And one Biffalo Buff.
And one of them Sneepy. And one Weepy Weed.
And one Paris Garters. And one Harris Tweed.
And one of them Sir Michael Carmichael Zutt
And one of them Oliver Boliver Butt
And one of them Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate ...
But she didn't do it. And now it's too late.

Well of course once you've owned one you can SELL a Vanagon,
but you can't really "never-have-owned" a Vanagon...

Dave doesn't currently maintain Vanagons, but he maintains Moderator Emeritus status, and we're lucky to have him.
