Oil fill

Is it normal for it to take forever to fill up the oil after an oil change. It seems like the oil is getting stuck shortly after the bend on a 1980 air cooled. What should I look into solving this or or it normal for it to move really really slow.

Filling with the dipstick out helps some.

I am new to this aircooled and vanagon life. It just seems ridiculous slow like I have a blockage almost but it does down eventually

Type 1 engines had an oil deflector under the fill stand that did not help. It’s not going to pour in like a conventional engine. With the dipstick out, it lets the case burp.

Or you can tear into it further. Could be someone lost the cap and stuck something in there and it got wedged down out of sight.
