Hello, can someone guide me in the right direction? I have a 65 deluxe and trying to unravel the paint code. These are the numbers on the m-plate.
524300. I have looked at the chart on the site and I don’t see the numbers.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you.

That is one ordered in a special color. 5 the model year 24 the model and 300 the special paint code. Not sure what the 300 is. Do you have any original paint on it anywhere that you can tell what it is? Most likely a solid single color. Most deluxes in special ordered paint are 1 solid color.
Edit looking at the color chart. The 300 range looks to be the reds. So in guessing maybe solid sealing wax red?

First off you posted this question twice. Be good if you would get to the other same post and delete it before someone posts there also and locks it from being deleted.

Did a search of the forum for "paint code 300" and got this among a few others.

If that's the case. Fire red needs to be added to the special paint codes.

It is in there is you scroll down one more section to the Public Service SO codes in the paint section.

makes sense considering that RAL 3000 is fire red, or Feuer Rot in German

You mean Sept? 8 is August. 9 is Sept. This is a 66 model year built 9/2/1965.

The below from the VIN/Chassi Numbers page available above thru the "Technical" button on right above. Chassi numbers are in that list are end of month. The "6020051" chassi number would come just before the end of month chassi number.

Quote:
Aug 216 020 494 (engine) H0 023 158

Aug. 2 - 1966 model year, 1500cc engine

Have heard that if one ordered a deluxe without sun roof, it delayed the manufacturing of it a bit. They had to take it off the deluxe manufacturing line and work it into the standard roof manufacturing line to have the no holes roof and upholstery installed.

9/2/1965 was a Thursday, so the bus could have been started to be built on Tuesday or even possibly Monday.

As for the model it will be on the fresh air vent.

Right now guessing it is a stock deluxe, and not a standard bus with the most rearward side window and dash clock hole hacked in.

Model off of the m code plate "25" is a true deluxe
So the vin number will have 25 before the rest of the vin off of the mcode.
Edit. Never mind you just posted a pic of the vin plate
