news flash! but not sure how trustworthy TheBlast is...

Approximately a week ago, comedian and actor Tracy Morgan got involved in a light accident with his recently purchased used Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. About an hour after he took delivery of his new $2-million pre-owned toy from a dealership in Manhattan, he was hit by a distracted Honda CR-V driver who attempted to make a right turn from the left lane while on the phone. Amateur photos and videos from the accident revealed the damage to the Bugatti is only minor but a new report claims it will cost the funnyman a fortune.

According to TheBlast, quoting “sources familiar with the situation,” despite the minimal damage on the front bumper and front left fender of the French supercar, the net worth of the Bugatti will instantly drop by at least $200,000 (approx. £150,000) due to the accident on the vehicle’s U.S.-based Carfax history report. How can such a minor accident be added to the Veyron’s history? Our source reports that’s due to the fact that Tracey was treated by an ambulance right after the accident, even though he did not receive any actual treatment.
As far as the repair bill is concerned, TheBlast reports that, if the CR-V driver is found guilty for the crash, her insurance will cover a small portion of the damage because the value of the Bugatti is way above the limits of most commercial insurance plans. “Industry sources” claim the comedian may need to spend upwards of $50,000 (£40,000) from his own budget mostly because the Veyron must be fixed at an authorised Bugatti dealer and not by just any regular bodyshop.
TheBlast also reports Morgan spent significantly more for his Veyron compared to what other customers paid for the supercar. Basically, this means he will most likely be facing a bigger depreciation compared to other Bugatti owners and when you add the accident report on the vehicle’s Carfax history, things are starting to look extremely costly for the comedian.

interesting if true.....

The cell-phone holding driver should bear some of this pain, too. And not just from slightly higher premiums. He is still personally liable, even if his insurance falls short. He could lose his house. I'm not advocating this, but it's about time people get off their damn phones, and pain and publicity seem to be the only inducements.

Yep, if your insurance doesn't cover it you are still liable.

Of course this requires Tracy to sue and win and then collect, which might not be worth his trouble.

A used one was $2M? LOL

I have never understood why wealthy people will happily pay over the odds for things or services. there is only so much value that can be added, whether it's a pair of trainers or an oil change! so surely they know they're being robbed...

I didn't realize it, but yes it was smart that someone called an ambulance, and he got checked out.
Also it will scare the shit of the person that hit you, they'll be less likely to blow it off as a little accident.
Morgan's People will run a check on the other driver.
They'll know EVERYTHING about the other driver, if the driver has no net worth, they will not bother with him.
IF they work for a someone with deep pockets, and they were driving for work,
No doubt Morgan's people will sue

Traffic collision

Quote:
On June 7, 2014, Morgan was a passenger in a Mercedes Sprinter minibus involved in a six-vehicle crash in New Jersey. Just after 1:00 am EDT Saturday morning, the vehicle was traveling northbound on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranbury, when it was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer operated by Walmart,[22] causing a chain reaction crash.[23][24] Morgan and three other comedians, including Harris Stanton, along with Morgan's assistant and two limousine company employees, were returning from an engagement at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware, as part of Morgan's "Turn it Funny" stand-up comedy tour.[25] The crash killed Morgan's friend and collaborator, 62-year-old comedian James McNair.[22]

Morgan was taken by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, with a broken leg and femur, broken nose, and several broken ribs, and underwent surgery on his leg on June 8.[26] On June 20, 2014, Morgan was released from the hospital and was transferred to a rehabilitation facility to continue recovering from the injuries sustained during the crash. He was released from the rehab center on July 12, 2014.[27]

The driver of the Walmart transport-truck, Kevin Roper of Jonesboro, Georgia, pleaded not guilty to one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. The complaint alleges Roper dozed off and hit Morgan's limousine after swerving to avoid slowed traffic ahead of him.[28] It also argues that Roper had been awake for more than 24 hours before the crash.[29] A preliminary investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board revealed that Roper had been on the clock since 11:20 Friday morning and was very close to the federal limits of 14 hours per day and 11 hours behind the wheel.[30]
On July 10, 2014, Morgan sued Walmart for negligence. The suit alleged that Walmart either knew or should have known that Roper hadn't slept for more than 24 hours. The complaint alleged that before his shift, Walmart forced Roper to drive from his home in Jonesboro to a Walmart distribution center in Smyrna, Delaware—a distance of some 750 miles (1,210 km) over 11 hours—even though there were several other distribution centers within a much more reasonable driving distance. Morgan filed the suit on behalf of himself, comedian Ardie Fuqua, Morgan's personal assistant Jeffrey Millea, and Millea's wife Krista. Fuqua and Millea were both on the bus with Morgan and injured in the crash, while at the time of the crash, Krista Millea was eight months pregnant, and the suit charges that she suffered loss of consortium due to the injuries suffered by her husband.[24][31][32][33] In September 2014, Walmart in court papers cast partial blame on Morgan and the other victims for not wearing seat belts, a claim both Morgan and his counsel denied, noting that the driver who caused the crash had been charged with vehicular homicide and that the police report stated that seat belts were not an issue in the case.[34]

By October 2014 the actor was still undergoing rehab and required a wheelchair when taking more than "some steps".[35][36] In November 2014, Morgan was still undergoing treatment for traumatic brain injury, including daily speech, cognitive, occupational and physical therapies.[37] On May 27, 2015, Walmart settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount.[38]

On June 1, 2015, Morgan made his first public appearance since the crash, in an interview with Matt Lauer on Today. In that interview, he appeared lucid but said that "I have my good days and my bad days, where I forgot things", and that he also gets recurring headaches. He also stated that he had no memory of the crash. Morgan made a surprise appearance at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 20, and was greeted with a standing ovation. He then hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live on October 17, 2015.[39] On the November 3, 2016 episode of Conan, Morgan said that he was no longer angry about the collision and had forgiven Roper.[40] The driver of the Walmart truck, Roper, accepted a plea deal in which he pled guilty but would serve no jail time.
