Bye, friends.
Grapevine up, nice and sunny @35mph. Dreary down @65mph.
"Don't take their Interstates, they're boring," said someone.
Found a dirt road. Fifteen Sprinter vans later I came to a snow drift. Spent an hour digging one tire track. Bye, Sprinter vans.
Got to camp by myself with no #vanlife in sight. The stream made a nice sleep soundtrack.
Another "boring" Interstate.
Found my way to Lake Tahoe.
And stayed at a friend's cabin for two nights.
Next up is Reno, Sacramento, and Maupin. New Hampshire is in there somewhere too.
See you on the road,

Sorry Jetfixr69, already halfway to Reno, though Incline Village was wonderful. (Soooo many Sprinter vans on the road into town.....) Plus, I did Route 66 with my girlfriend last year, and my bus is NOT roomy enough for two occupants on a long trip!
ImAddicted- New England is small, the state lines tick off quickly at 63mph!

Frankly, I'm impressed that you could find seven people willing to stand in a photo with you and pretend to be your friends.
How much did that $et you back?
Reality - looking forward to August. I hope you are not overwhelmingly exhausted by then. Sorry the other travelers currently living with us will be in Tulum by then. _________________ '75 Riviera - 'BIG EMMA' (Pan American highway trip paused for a make over)

Vt, MA, NH, yup, and RI doesn't even count but I swear, the longest drive in New England is I84 in CT. Not because it is long (it really isn't), but because it is tedious AF.
Now, Fryeburg, ME to St Agatha, ME, that's a drive... Maine, the BIG NE state. _________________ 1979 Transporter (sold)

This is why we always try to time our trips down 84 for a lunch or dinner stop at exit 65 -- Rein's New York style Deli. Awesome.
I checked out your route - What a cool thing to do! Robbie if you're planning to go over the bridges and out onto Cape Cod while you're in MA, you're welcome to stop in for a swim in the Atlantic, a cold beer and a lobstah.
Safe travels,

Damn! I told her I bought her a bus ticket home. She was pissed! Think she thought I meant this
Ditto Hobo, when you get up here, ( northern NH), while I cant offer lobstah or a swim in the Atlantic, I can offer a cold ass mountain waterfall pool and some venison and bear meat. Free range, 100% organic, wicked healthy. You will have to wash it down with some homebrew however, sorry. _________________ You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. In the wake of WildIdea and VWWestMan's beautiful recent threads, I've given up on writing complete sentences.
Tahoe to Sacramento.
106°f. vacuum leak award of the year.
It was 102° and we still took this bug for pizza. Registration from 2014.
Cut to coast; much colder at 85°f. Good traveling companions:
Drove thru giant trees. Still good the third time in a row.
Met aircooledchris!
This lazy ass didn't even bother checking the dwell.
Drove to Oregon.
Tires balanced AND the shifter not ripped out…
Found out my business cards are .017" thicc.
Found out that Portland parks make excellent classrooms:
Beer with Xevin and followed him to Maupin the morning after.
Met Maupin-minded folks AKA the Orange Bus Brigade, Buddy in the back.
Met some other bad-ass dudes with Volkswagens as well.
Orange buses up Mt. Hood, Two watercooled swaps and my slow ass 1600 passing Xevin in the slow lane. Sad!
Just kidding, his 2.0 kicked my ass, as it does.
Probably because he has such refreshing beverages on board and tasteful decorum.
Paid homage to the best original Riviera Vista Cruiser in all the land, and bid the newlyweds in the Champagne adieu at a swimming hole.
Ferry to Vashon Island, a tiny little thing, no fewer than FIVE buses!
See you on Monday, Lucky Lab.

Robbie was backing into a gas station parking spot on our way to BBB.
I was standing next to the concrete bumper post behind his parking spot, watching him back up...
Unfortunately, he didn't see the post or hear me holler until it was too late to stop. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
Luckily it only bent the bumper and not the body. We were able to pull it back into semi-shape with a tow rope. _________________ -Kent-
