For those of you who have added a higher end stereo in your Squarebacks, where did you mount your amplifier? Mine is a total of 500 watts RMS, so I will have 125 watts RMS per channel. I was thinking about under the rear seat, drivers side, but I don't think that there will be enough cooling air. I could add a little fan, but I'm afraid that the amp will pickup the noise from the fan's motor. Any thoughts?

Below the seats, there is plenty of space. And you don't need an additional fan...

For the current sound setup, I have an active Pioneer Subwoofer under the seat as well.

The next step will be a 5Ch Amplifier PDX-V9 incl. DSP... This will be hidden under the left rear seat... Due to the fact, that this Alpine Amplifier is a digital one - I don't expect any issue with too much heat.

Occasionally I do have passengers in the back seat. Any issues with them kicking your amp?

Or stepping on it with their feet under the front seats?

Will it fit under the glove box fitted to the strap or maybe under the right front foot plate? I know you can remove the right foot plate although there is not much room under there.

I don't have an amp just the old alpine AM/FM Cassette deck 35 watts per speaker.

Thanks for the ideas, I am running AC so I'll have to check for room under the dash. Under the foot plate, I don't think I would have any air circulation. I also like to disguise or hide my sound equipment. Nothing makes a car say break into me better then a nice stereo setup.

the new digital amps are awesome, can be mounted upside down, hidden behind door panels, and are really down in size compared to the old class a high current models I used 20 years ago. For amps that I didn't want to display (little ones, not the big coffee table sized amps) I would try to hide them under the front seats, but yes, they would be kicked, stepped on, wires pulled out, so I try to keep my passengers to a minimum. If I had cheap amps I really didn't care about, I think they would last a few years under the back seat. My expensive stuff, probably not

I just got my Square on the road and audio is a next step. I'm thinking about a Bluetooth head unit but am not sure what to do for speakers. Would like 4-channel. What are people doing for front and rear speaks?

I went with a Kenwood KAC-M1824BT 400W 4 Ch mounted under the back seat of my fastback. it's a marine ATV amp so it doesn't require a headunit and it's bluetooth enabled. I'm also planning on installing one in my 68 beetle as well to do away with the headunit in the glove box.

I've been out of the high end audio equipment for a few years, just too much other toys robbing my bank account. One of the head units I was looking at is a JVC (don't have model number handy). It has a blue tooth feature that has an external mic, and a setting that will answer your phone, after a given time that you select. I thought that feature was pretty cool. Half of the time I miss calls, and I just don't feel comfortable trying to find the answer button in certain traffic situations.
