| PO converted front to disk (15"), so am i to assume these are beetle parts and ball joints are now beetle not thing parts? Would there be any reason to believe the tie rods would now be beetle |

There are many disc brake kits that will fit a thing spindle so not necessarily beetle parts or beetle ball joints. Is the caliper mounted right to the spindle or is there an adapter bracket like in this picture?
Thing ball joints are both on top.
Beetle ball joints are one up one down. Look at the sorry state of my ball joint boot.
Then I looked at the other side.
