Good call on the white about trying to keep clean. Will stay away from that. I have some of the metallic aluminum paint. Might try that and see how it looks with a polished cap.

when I was at the dealer people too cheap to put conti's or Michelins on their 70k+ SUV would go with starfires. those tires rode so fuckin bad and people bitched I started calling them rumblestars. they would wear funny and it sounded like you had 4 bad wheel bearings Laughing

I've got a set on my 5000 lb Chevy truck, and a set on my 68 single cab. No issues at all. They ride nice, handle nice, and so far have been wearing evenly. Great in snow, too, on the Chevy.

In 2017 they moved production back to the US, might be a factor. I have a set on one of my SUVs, they are as good as the Goodyear’s that they repacked.

First tire showed up today. Took a wheel off and broke it down to strip old paint. 3 layers of paint on there, ughhh! Had to use paint stripper gel and treat it 3 times followed by a clean up in the blaster. Just a couple coats of rust converter primer and then had my buddy at the garage mount and balance. Test fit on the rear first.

Got about a 3/4” lift with new skins.

Original old 195’s

And then with the new ones

Moved it up front and did a swing test and not even close to interfereing anywhere.

Wicked psyched about the look and stance these new skins have. Ordered the other four today. Brakes, shocks, etc ordered and on the list while in there. Gonna be a busy week.

Asked wifes opinion on color of wheels and she immediately said “white, to match the top”. Uh-oh! She painted the top so I feel obligated to paint the wheels white for her efforts. Nice thing about white is it makes a nice primer coat for anything else over the top later.
