Gas tank stick - 1953!!!

I got this gas gauge stick in a bunch of stuff from Germany. It measures about 16" long and about an inch wide. It has graduations on it with corresponding liters and kilometers. It is marked with a VW and 1953. Does anyone have info. on this item and know if it is for a bus or beetle? It came with a bunch of early bus stuff. Here is a close-up of one end.

hi, i have the same, but on the one side it is for cars pre 55 and on the other side it is for cars 1955 and up ( big fuel tank and smaller fuel tank)

i think the fueltank for old busses und beetles pre 55 are the same!?

Thanks for the info. oval56. Do you have a photo of the 1955 and up side? How are the graduations different? Does your under 55 side match mine for 560 kilometers at 40 liters? Thanks again,
