All,
Dropping the family off in Calgary on the 4th of july. i plan to head back to MT via highway 40. Lots of prov parks in that area with some limited availability still, any input on what to hit? Peter lougheed etc? Also what is the road and camping like heading all the way south on 40? Looks somewhat primitive which is what I like. I plan on hitting that road and camping after the 5th-8th or so. Itll just be me in my syncro westy and a mtb
Thanks, |

Hwy 40 only goes south to Highwood House (gas station) before heading east to Longview. It is paved the whole way. To get from Highwood House to Coleman, you need to take the forestry trunk road (Hwy 940/40) and it’s high grade gravel the whole way with little to no services. |

Thats the stretch Im refering to, the gravel section to Crows nest pass. Looks like lots of primitive camping along that stretch? Is it worth checking out?
