So far only tuning the injection angle at idle. With the engine warmed up, I started at 330 BTDC EOI (end of injection). I chose 330 because it’s about the end of overlap. In increments of 20, I decreased the EOI and monitored idle speed and lambda. The rpm increased and the lambda decreased (richer). At 290 EOI, I was able to pull fuel out of the table. Continued to decrease EOI to 250 where the idle picked up and again richer. At 230 the engine was a little choppy and it started to lean out. In the end I landed on 250 and I was able to pull out 12% fuel and the car is idling 1050rpm. Idle air speed is tricky with these TBs so I’ll save that adjustment for another day.

What is interesting is 250 BTDC is right at the intake centerline (108 ATDC) or 252 BTDC. The injection pulse is short (down in the 1.4ms range now) so basically all the fuel is injected at peak lift.

I need a plan for tuning at WOT. I’m not sure if centering the injection over the intake centerline will be correct.
