How do y’all strap down a 12 volt battery. I just did my pans and am looking to weld something in, or maybe just a battery box? Like for a boat.

Thank you

Many clamping options if you are welding.

I have successfully used the 6V strap/lid combination on a 12V battery but it has to be the right shape battery.

… interesting - since I use a 6v tractor battery - larger than the stock size - I use no cover or strap - must say, the battery cables hold the battery in place very well... have been doing it this way, without problems for 50 years - -

can't hurt to use a strap - just don't think it's necessary.

Back in '76 I was involved in a highway traffic accident - a truck lost control and careened into my '57 oval, in my lane - broke my hand, but my battery did not move at all, even upon impact.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I have a 65 bus and I don’t strap in the battery. Just thought I’d weld something in sense I can. I’m thinking a 1/4 20 boot on each side and make a strap. It’s not “correct” but I plan to drive the car.

In the Netherlands we have a periodical safety test for cars built in 1960 and onward, and one of the conditions is that the battery should be strapped in tightly.
I've used the 6volt strap, with a wooden block to fill up the space between top of the 12volt battey and the strap.
