I don't know which ones are the worst offenders, or if it's just the number of them, but embedded video links really slow page loading. I even get some timeout errors despite having lightning fast internet here at work.
For example, this thread will sometimes freeze the browser for 15 seconds or more:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9112706#9112706
If I click reply, then it delays it all over again, locking up to reload the content at the bottom of the "reply" window.
I am guessing the videos load in the background, or perhaps some other related task is tying up the browser. You can't even scroll for many seconds after first loading the page. I thought my PC had crashed.
Not much we can do about it, unless the code has some option to defer loading (or whatever is typing up the browser). Maybe some browser option can help here?

It loaded in less than a second for me.
I guess its time to get off dial up. _________________ Glenn

LOL! We have good average speeds (35-45 Mbps) here at work. I have 100 Mbps at home.
I wonder if there are cache settings that make this better/worse? At work at least, it seems to start all over again and reload (or whatever it's doing) every time I visit the page, even just minutes apart.
IE on Windows here at work, so there's that... |

At work, it may be some "whitelist/blacklist" checking against any youtube address. I don't know for a fact, but most companies do this to avoid bandwidth drains. Maybe that's happening here? I'll check from home and see if it happens there... no list checking there. |
