1979 stock 2.0 with fi. Ive done lots of reading here and replaced or checked almost everything associated with idle .
At stop light the bus idles too high but will drop to normal if I pop the clutch for a split second. What did i miss?

Oiling the felt pad down in the distributor shaft under the rotor?, the mechanical advance might be binding. The decel valve would also be on my list of suspects.

also a worn throttle body can cause similar symptoms.

Does the idle speed screw on the throttle body have any effect?

The screw is almost bottomed out so Im looking for other areas that affect idle. All vacuum lines new

The screw just goes into an air passage that bypasses the throttle plate, so if the screw is all the way in but it's still idling high, that would tend to indicate that air is bypassing the throttle plate in some other manner.
Perhaps the auxiliary air regulator is stuck open?
What's your fuel pressure?
When you replaced the vacuum lines did you replace the rubber seals around the tips of the injectors?

Key may be that it returns to normal if i let out the clutch for a split second?

That's why I'm thinking decel valve or distributor.

I clean, tested ,oiled all of the above and now the bus runs , drives and idles great. Thanks all
