Bolt for sliding door nylon guide

So the other day while preparing for a family bike ride I realized that my Bus was parked on top of my air compressor hose. Needing it to inflate my bicycle tires I figure I’ll simply roll the Bus back a bit. Being in my cramped garage I have to climb in through the sliding door. Of course when opening the door the back half of the €*#&ing door came crashing to the ground. This of course resulted in me needing to use a floorjack to raise the wheels enough so I could use my compressor, and propping my door open with two toolboxes. After returning from an enjoyable ride I took a look to see where the problem was with the door. The nylon guide had apparently fallen out at some point along with the screw/nut. Fortunately I have a spare guide but do not have the screw and nut to attach it. I guess what I’m asking is if anyone knows the correct length for this screw, and if I can use a regular sized 6mm nut or does it have to be thin? Can I use a standard 6 sided hex head bolt? Can the bolt stick out at all on the nut side or will it rub against the track? Due to the cramped nature I can’t remove the door inside the garage and will need to do it in my driveway which will require one person to drive, and one to hold the door (is there a joke in there) so I want to make sure that I have it right on the first try. I was wandering around looking for something to do since Cathy is vacuuming and the other chores and projects have come along nicely. Spent some time fine tuning the HVAC system this week. We had an issue where the compressor sounded like a foghorn but then again we thought it could be a sprinkler valve but the sound went away when we replaced the compressor Had to charge some nicad batteries so I grabbed the charger and plugged it in near the computer when I saw this thread. When I had the problem you did I went to the bottle of spare nuts and bolts I have, and went thru them until I found one that fit but that wasn't too deep to rub. I used Loctite on it to help it not come loose. My original nylon block was held on with a rivet. Do you need me to go into the details how I drilled the rivet out? I can if you want. I think that the bolt I used was a pan head phillips that fit inside the nylon block.

I was out in the yard battling my aging gas powered weed eater, I'm starting to think I may have gotten my money's worth out of it and it's time to break down and buy a new one. For some reason it just doesn't have the same HP and torque it did 35 years ago After putting everything away I headed towards the house, little did I know the cat was lurking in the shade near the front porch and waiting to jump me as I came in, seems he's feeling neglected lately. My foot caught his belly as I went for the first step, luckily I still have a little Ninja in me and I caught myself just as I was about to trip with some killer dance moves. (Cat was OK too).
Once I made it inside safely I opened the fridge, I found a nice chilly Red truck Road trip classic lager, a 1/2 full container of potato salad nearly fell out as I was reaching in for it, that was really close!, nothing ruins a well earned lounge session after yard work like an unplanned cleanup on aisle 3 before the lounging can take place. I sat down to enjoy my beer and fired up the Samba, that's when I saw this thread.

You need to spend more time cleaning up your garage, or build a bigger garage.

M6 bolt and nut. Bolt about 3/4 inch long. It’s nice if it has a philips head.

It’s funny how those a/c compressors cause havoc with the lawn sprinklers
