Installed a new flame thrower dist and coil earlier this year. Never has run quite right since then but did get a tank of bad gas and had to clean the carb out.
Recently took it out and let it idle while I filled the tires with air. While driving off after filling tires there was a large backfire and the engine just stopped running. Turned over just would not catch.
I have no spark at the plugs, + side of coil is hot, there is no electrical activity on the negative side of the coil that I can determine.
Replaced the coil and still no spark at the plugs.
How to test the dist for proper function? Other suggestions requested.
To HOT to use much but cooler months are not far off so need help before cool weather gets here.

Did you examine the distributor after the backfire? I had a bug backfire and blow the dizzy cap clean off once. Cap may be cracked or otherwise damaged. Those Flamethrowers are electronic right? Check the pickup disk under the cap for cracks or other damage. |

I suspect the Pertronix module took a crap.
