The solid information I have is that all 58/9 lowlight cabriolets had StoneBeige L471 as their interior components (handbrake, steering column, steering wheel...) colour.
Could we guess L471 was used on all 58/9 Coupes?
And furthermore, could we guess that L471 was used on all 56/7 Coupes? _________________ -StockRocks- |

Ok, apologies.
Thing is, that car (you know it's the same Ghia, before & after resto? Pics 2, 3, & 4) has been restored/repainted. It looks like its also had an original wheel reinstalled too, and that wheel could have repainted or come from a beetle.
Original paint cars are the only true guideline that should be used.

Sorry Chris, I was referring to Mr Swanks car , not the Batwing - I restored a 54 Beetle last year and spent hours restoring the wheel, so am familiar with it.
Thanks for the additional pics - is there any consensus on the correct colour - would Mr Swank be able to comment? |

^Keep up Jerry! Steering wheel is a pre55 Beetle item, not the original.
Couple more pictures from a diffrent original interior-paint antelope 57
[indicator stalk maybe non-original to the car)

John - sorry my mistake. My Car is an early March 56 with those air vents close to the drivers feet - so a completely different Bulk head set up.
Thanks Aerosilver for the info. I will go for Silver beige. Any idea on the colour for the Steering Wheel (looks White ), Indicator switch housing, and wire cover on column ( Silver beige ? )
Sadly all this good info is getting scattered over so many posts - we need some one to write that Book ( are you listening Dave Ruby ? )
Regards Jerry |

Bulkhead mat came in from body 3761, April/May 56.
Steering column,handbrake/gearstick are stone beige I believe (or maybe silver beige), definitely not white. Couple of pictures of Kens Ghia pre resto, zoom in for original paint on the column etc.
(My first lowlight, restored, sold to Ken,sold to France, sold on, current location unknown)

John - I am in the same predicament. The few interior pictures of 56-57 that I have found, show these items as white ? unless I have a monitor problem. I would have thought Silver Beige would be better ( inner wheel rim colour)

What year is the car? There's no mention of an "antelope brown" interior for Karmann Ghias in the tech section. My old '69 Ghia was Oriel Yellow with a khaki brown interior. The steering wheel, steering column, gearshift and handbrake lever were all black. Carpets and rubber floor mats were brown.
