Anyone know the correct depth of the Pulley Seal? The Bentley says that when using the VW tool for a triple pulley to tighten until the seal stops. Is that flush with the outer case or until it bottoms out on the inner lip thus setting it below the outer case?

I'm using Victor Rienz seals. The rear is thinner then stock so I'm assuming the front is as well.

Be it right
Or
Be it wrong,

I put seals in flush with the case unless specifically told to do otherwise.

How short is the seal from bottoming on the inner lip? When a seal lip is provided, you know that the seal is seated square. Using the outer face, is not as precise, but often is the only choice.

Bottomline, you really need to look at where the lip of the seal is riding in relation to the pulley seal face. Most likely the pulley has a wear groove, so, you could probably extrapolate where it was. Also, it might not be bad to have the seal in another spot if you have a wear groove.
