Just trollin ya.
I'm going to leave it alone until the turn signal quits working.

But...what part will go first?
Will the bulb burn out, or will it fall off? Laughing only time will tell.

there is some rust, but more problematic is the partial lack of fender

Poor little Bug needs some care, Good Luck! Bug On!

It's a daily driver, so I expect it's merely a matter of time before that fender get finished off....one way or another.
In 10 years the fenders have been hit 6 times.
If I HAD a perfect fender, I would put it in the rafters, not on the car.

In my 35 years dorking around these cars I've never seen rust like that! I love it and it cannot be faked.

I am predicting that when the fender dissolves completely, the turn signal will fail due to the lack of a good ground.

yeah right? in colorado they don't rust if you let them sit, but they rust when driven.

When I got the car I pulled the body and replaced the channels and fixed all he rust.....lead chromate epoxy primer on everything I fixed, so don't worry, the main body is safe. Any rust bobbles on the main body itself I fix quickly, although I haven't found a way to perfectly match the very unique pearl yellow color.

but the fenders....I didn't do a thing to them, just bolted them back on again.

I let them 'fend" for themselves Razz

When the signal light does finally fall through, you'll have a semaphore thing going on!

Problem is, semaphores return to their upright position when you're through the turn. Confused

The turn signal looks like it's in good condition.

You should come and take a look at Ohio vehicles! That rust is normal. You should get a load of my beater truck! Holes are as big as a volleyball!

I've seen rusty beetles, just never limited to the crest of a fender before (and now I'm up to 40 years). Wink
