Well, I really couldn't help myself here.
One owner, numbers matching, with paperwork documentation.
Was resprayed at some point in its life, but everything else is factory original.
It's been sitting since 2003 according to the registration sticker.
VIN# 116953145

Some more photos for everyone.
It's been sitting in the Texas sun for 17 years.
I started ripping out the torn/ failing headliner today, getting ready to strip the car down to be soda blasted and painted the correct factory color.

Great find. Ruby red VWs are lovely. Yours look like it’s in fantastic shape. Rust free? It will look like this, soon. This is my ‘66. Do I love it? Duh!!

If the paint is original, i would try and buff it out to see how it looks. You'd be surprised how good the original paint comes back. They are original only once. |

So I removed all the glass this weekend.
Found some rust up by the front windshield.
I think I will need a repair dash metal clip.

I changed out the non-existent shift rod bushing in my '66 the other day, too. I was wondering, do those bushings go to the same place where all of our single socks run away to hide?
Nice find, I hope you don't get too many other little rusty surprises! |

Wow, figured out why I could not get 1st and 2nd gear.
Really crappy aftermarket rear shift coupler, vs the better made aftermarket "HD" shift coupler.
Whoever drilled the grub screw hole had a few too many drinks.
Ended up getting some repair metal for the rusted windshield.

I’m attempting to get Dad’s ‘64 Ruby Red back on the road. Because of mentioning this, checked the one I had, also off center. Not wanting to wait, I pulled the bushings out of the new and popped it into the factory original. I appreciate not having a nasty surprise. _________________ Please consider I am Autistic, so I process information differently and still working on social skills. Thanks.
Dad's 1964 Beetle purchased September 1968.

Maybe. Depends how bad the rust is and how far over from the corner.
I was able to use a remnant outer quarter window section I had laying around after removing the luggage shelf from it. Turns out with a little tweaking and metal smithing you can produce the repair panel yourself. Page 17 in my build.

That's a nice find. Everything else looks like it's in good condition. You might just look over the seals in the other areas. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

Not much going on lately, the beetle is at the body shop to have new window metal welded in currently.
Picked up a correct style restored fuel pump from Bill. Fantastic guy.

Does anyone know if I can just bolt up a 1967 12 volt wiper motor to my existing 1966 6 volt wiper assembly?
It looks like they are identical, other than one being 6/12 volts.
Since this car is being converted to 12 volt. _________________ (Owner) www.vintagecarleds.com

As long as they are both the same as in Bosch/Bosch or SWF/SWF they should be a direct swap.
To get the most out of it use a 67 switch too so you'll have two speed wipers.
Use USA 67 wiring diagram for added wires. _________________ -Bruce
