Hi there, I’ve been working on a Kombi Restoration but recently fell in love with a Karmann Ghia. Those curves were just to much to resist.

It’s a good start.
My Ghia sat in my garage for 12 years and when I put my foot on the brakes fluid gushed out of the brake pushrod boot at the pedal. So I replaced everything as I figured all the seals were the same age. I even found a frozen caliper. I used the same style suction bleeder ($22.00) with good results though.

A good start indeed!
The body certainly looks solid ftom what we can see in the video, and that is also backed up by the fact that you actually raised up your Ghia by placing the jack under the official jacking point without anything crushing in or collapsing. 
Congratulations on your new distraction.
Allow me, though, to be the first to suggest that you remove that new fuel filter from its current position above the distributor and find a safer location to mount it outside of the engine compartment.
If you search the forum, you'll find all you need to know about why it's a bad idea to have the weight of a filter tugging on the brass hose fitting that is merely pressed into the pot metal body of the carburetor. |
