So I'm driving home from work today...backed out of my space and pulled out of the parking lot...up to a traffic lite...into first and pulled away...down into second..GRIND..GRIND...WTF!!??...back into neutral and into third..GRIND..GRIND. Left it in neutral and coasted off the road onto the shoulder. It was as if the clutch cable had let go...but it hadn't .Pedal and effort where normal . No noises or odd sounds, vibrations...nothing. Now I'm sitting there at idle and I try first gear...click, right in, no problem. Now second right in also... Third, forth all ok. So I take off again and it shifts perfectly all the way home. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Very strange.

Check your shift coupler under the back seat under the panel in the tunnel.

It may have slipped out and back in with a little force, it may be too loose allowing play or your nose cone on your transaxle may be loose or have a bad mount.

Did you also replace the shift rod bushing that hangs from inside the tunnel and supports the shift rod just behind the shifter location? Also check your three transmission mounts (esp the front nosecone mount).
