Thanks Rome!
Was thinking a Ghia cover for this album but it had a mind of its own… _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Your car is just as sharp to me! I like the 356 but the Ghia has such incredible styling?
Interesting how this photo makes the 356 look black or very dark blue instead of grey. _________________ Marc

Thanks Marc. Guess I am referring to more than looks. The 356 just feels more luxurious, solid, safer, … a more authentic sports car. Oh, and lest we forget, much more expensiver. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

They are much more solid. The unibody construction gives them insane rigidity. Ghias have way to much body flex.
An IRS Ghia though can handle pretty close like a 356 with its swing axle ass end. But it can’t match that sense of solidity. It’s really best to have at least one of each. You know, just for scientific comparison. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Thanks for the support John!
I hadn’t written a song for fifty years. Then these all came pouring out in the last 6 months. That invitation from John to experience Calexico led to a collaboration with him and my son Alex that clearly was a catalyst. And that sweet custom shop strat I recently discovered! It’s on all but one song — never played such a straty strat in my life. Inspirational. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Ha! Would you believe I just sat down, pushed record (on my iPad mind you) and Stratocracy came out all in one lump, one take? Surprised myself!
All my guitar work on the album was recorded right there with that guitar and amp (except one track where I used a tele). Stratocracy was the only iPad wonder though haha. Alex brought over equipment to create a mini studio for the other songs. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

A blackface Vibroverb and a custom shop Strat are a great combination.
I like my custom shop Strat and brownface Concert Amp. They sound great.
Enjoyed your album. Nice job!

Sweet, didn’t know we had Strat’s in common as well! Shall we start a Ghia Strat thread?
Thanks for the kind words, Nicholas. Yes, the guitar and amp are clearly a matched set. The Vibroverb is custom shop as well with the SRV mods https://reverb.com/item/81589-fender-64-vibroverb-custom-shop-cesar-diaz-srv-mods
The sad fact of the matter is that I have never cranked it any higher than 3 hahaha. Even then I run it through a pedal to fine tune the volume control. It really belongs in the hands of someone who is playing out… at large venues! But I just love the sparkle and quack and sustain and attack and … well, I just love it. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0
