I have a 67 beetle with stock drum brakes. My plan is to convert to disc brakes. Will the items I have listed below allow me to accomplish this? Will I need to change MC or tie rod ends?

Use your original mc. Some people recommend a disc master but I used my original with 4 wheel discs on my 67 and it works great. If you haven't replaced your tie rod ends, while it isn't necessary now is probably a good time to do it. Access will be optimal while everything is apart. |

Any positive or negative feedback on this kit by AC Industries from SoCal Imports?

I used to have the AC Industries wide 5 front disc. They did the job alot better than drums. Ended up getting rid of them when i put dropped spindles on. _________________ Semper Fidelis |

I installed them on my 67 Beetle once. The problem with them is they way over brake the front end such that in certain conditions such as a slick or wet road surface or in the dirt the car takes a lot longer distance to stop than normal. Smaller tire dia in the front makes it worse as does larger tire dia in the rear. They look original however are much heavier and were a bit clunky on rough roads. On black top or good paved road they stop the car a lot faster but will lock up easy and if braking in a turn the car will spin out if they lock up the front wheels. Be careful! They need help from good rear disc brakes too. _________________ 1960 Beetle And 1679cc DP W-100 & Dual Zeniths! |
