|

I searched for an answer and was not able to find a definitive one so sorry if this has been asked before.
I am in the process of installing a refurbished head that I pulled from a 1.9 WBX engine I got as a parts engine. The spare engine I got was pretty complete so I decided to use one of the push rods from it since one of the ones in my van was bent.
The issue I found was that the push rod from my spare engine was not the same. The tips are not the same and the diameter is not the same.
Here are some pictures:
According to this link: https://ratwell.com/technical/HydraulicLifters.html
there are aluminum shafts and steel shafts but in this case both of mine are steel since a magnet stuck to both of them.
I was just wondering if I am okay to use these in my install or should they all be the same?
Thanks! _________________ 1983.5 Aussan Brown Westfalia | 2016 to 2020

As long as they are the same length they will work. Also the end “ball” radii look to be about the same to me (but hard to tell from the pic), so they should fit okay in the lifter and rocker arm sockets without causing a bunch of wear.
I think you’ll be fine. _________________ Sabata

Thanks! Yes, they are the same length. _________________ 1983.5 Aussan Brown Westfalia | 2016 to 2020

Is one those a two-piece affair? If so, could have been a switch from two piece to one piece at some point in time. |
These don't appear to be two-pieced rods. Thanks for the comment. _________________ 1983.5 Aussan Brown Westfalia | 2016 to 2020
