The very early frames are solid without a rubber on them. They have catches like pre 53 quarter lights
The next style the frame is the same as later split bus, but has a different tab for the catch
When the catches changed to late split style the tab changed too

More information:
The "late" style started in early 1954 but I don't see the change listed in Progressive Refinements so I'm not sure of the exact chassis # or date. |
So the deep skylight deluxe above displaying a late barndoor pop out is incorrect? I had thought the late barndoor frame started earlier than piano hinge vent wing busses ended. Guess not? Learned something new. |

My barndoor is Jan 54 so guessing I will just go late type.
Thanks for your help |

No, it's correct.
To be clear:
By late style I mean this style, this is sometime in 1954-up:

Unless I am remembering wrong, this Bus is from 1/54:
Edit: It's VIN # 20-073180, which is very early 2/54
and it still has this style of popout:

In the Parts List I found the VIN for the latch change:
221 847 081 - up to ch # 20-76-673
221 847 081 A - from ch # 20-76 673 |

They look like they will fit a later pop out frame, don't they?
The black knobs on the BD are a different shape, as well. |

They look like Fleetline latches to me, those used in at least South Africa. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

I have seen quite a few items listed as barndoor that definitely aren't. You have to be careful and make sure you know what you're buying _________________
