'89 Westy with factory power locks. Was iffy for about a year then suddenly all power was lost. Checked DS actuator for continuity (check), took it apart and found it to be in good condition. Hmmm. After looking at the forums I found the hidden fuse 23 and, yes, it was blown. Replaced fuse, reattached actuator and - POP - fuse blew immediately. I'm about to go check wire continuity between actuator and behind fuse panel but wonder if the actuator itself could be the cause of the blown fuses? Or is this strictly a wiring issue?

Edit: I have continuity from DS actuator to connectors behind glove box. Now will check passenger side actuator continuity to same connector.

The best write upon this I have seen is from Go Westy. You have a bad wire somewhere.

This are awesome when they work.

Bad wire, yes. However, the bad wire turned out to be two wires running from the alarm/remote lock unit to the connector behind the glove box. They were pinched in the metal hinge of said glove box and are what caused the number 23 fuse to blow. Once those wires were fixed the power door locks worked but the alarm/remote lock unit still wouldn't work. I had the instrument cluster out trying to find the connectors behind the fuse panel (failed) when I noticed 5 fuses related to the alarm/remote lock unit. Two 10 amp fuses were blown. Replaced those and everything was back up and working. So it wasn't the actuator or wires in the door, although taking all that apart was good practice.

Maybe this will help someone else with add on alarm/remote lock unit in the future.
