One of the neatest things I've done with my 3D printer. My odometer stopped working last fall during a mountain biking trip. I didn't think too much about it - after 200,000 miles it all runs together anyway. But I knew I wanted to get it fixed before travel season kicked off this spring, so I started looking around for solutions. Bus Depot and others have a repair program, but I happend to find this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2104416 . I also happen to have a 3D printer, so let's give this a shot! Photo's follow.
Works like a champ for now. Will keep everyone posted, and thanks to whomever designed this to begin with - Great work! |

I recently had a 3 d printer in my area create one of these from the online files and was super easy to deal with.
The install was a bit tricky cause of the small pieces however the finished product is excellent!!! 👍🏽 |

Just asked a friend that is top notch 3d printer guy to give me price on printing out 10 sets of these..
not that I need them
dont even own a vw.. just vw engines.. lol |

I can get these printed for 10 bucks a pop.. plus Id say 8 for shipping.. but to make it worth his while.. he needs to print as many that will fit on printing surface.. id say 5- 8 maybe
So I can get these printed.. but who all wants one? |

I'd be in for trying one, and USPS small flate rate box is $6.10 if I recall, so shipping shouldn't be more than around that.

He is good.. I actually started building a 3d printer and he saw what I was doing.. we grew up down the street from each other.. btw.. so anyway.. he ordered a kit then he bought another one... plus he knows how to code.. so G code is real simple to him... now if I can get 5 people interested.. i will get them made.. so far got 2 people interested.. if I get 5 i will send him money to print them out he will send me and I will sell them here on samba .. pretty sure.. there is no money to be made here.. lol but.. if it does help people out.. its worth the time.. |
