So I'm looking at both on my '69 SC. One is painted lotus white and the other is bare aluminum. The rivets from one are popped from the treasure chest forward, the other is popped from the cab backward. The M-plate decoder says single T-chest but it has a double T-chest. Title is clear. But I think there may have been shenanigans at foot.

The rivets look correct, but why is it a different color?, or was it taped off like the VIN plate looks to have been? Bonus options have been missed in the past, maybe a flying change as it was heading down the line?
Does the number match the one in the engine compartment?

The welding above the plate in your upper picture isn't factory. I would guess some body work got done and the plate reattached?

The M-code for dual storage compartment doors is 071, and you have that on the plate, so it seems to me that everything is in order.

The rivets also look just fine. The rivet work on my '75 SC is exactly the same.

Looks good! No shenanigans! It was a hoax!
