My point exactly. So much to show. We will have a place to post peoples pictures of their rides with all of those differences. |

Well there is already a 67 registry.
As for the 64's, yeah they still have the small windows, but the have the large license light. 64's need a place to put their pictures and the 62-63 guys didn't include them probably because of that light. |
65 and 66 111, 112, 115,116 still use the small License plate light. and the 115 and 116 sunroof models also still use the sliding folding ragtop sunroof.
Remember also even some of the European "deluxe" models are using a 6 volt system, 1300 and the old style headlamp/fenders in 1967. And forget about the 12 volt deal as the 1975 European 1200L beetle was the last beetle to be a 6 volt car. And the very last beetle to be made in Germany/ Europe was a 1200 40hp swing axle 1978 model. |

I don't know how to change the topic heading to 64-66, so maybe one of the moderators could do that for us. |

Well there is already a 67 registry. I agree with the 66 being added. There are no registries covering 64, 65 or 66. So lets make it 64-66.
I agree with everything said above. We all like pictures and it seems most of the registries are about pictures. So we need a place to post.

Just curious - why a '64-'65 registry? Why not a '65-'66 registry, as these years are more the same, visually, than '64 and '65, which have different sized and shaped side windows, for example. |
The turning point really is the 65-67 models. Dealing with U.S. and world wide Beetles you could make the argument that the 65 111's and 112's and 115 and 116 are the old-old. They are the last 36hp engines and that type of engine architecture, they are the last beetles to use the stud/claw and wing nut to fasten seats =NO seat tracks. The last to use the manual choke carburetor, the last to use a reserve tap instead of a fuel gauge and the last to use a 4.43 ring and pinion final drive. These things all go back to the 1938 beetle. The further you go in terms of years, the further the cars distance themselves from their makers concept. A 64 and 65 111, 112, 115, 116 have way more in common than a 65-66 of the same. |
