|
|
ive Had my westy for 5 years now.
And it finally dawned on me this morning: The main stove/sink/fridge
cabinet is at such an bad height for comfortable ergonomics.
I’m only 5’ 10” and I’m at this weird in-between crouching/standing
position when cooking and using the sink.
Has anyone seen where this was raised?
I’m thinking a custom matching style of cabinet under it all
I’m thinking 4 to 5” would do the trick.
I’ve had it out and apart before to fit my tf65 fridge.
This would give me plenty of room for added storage and a
bigger propex that typically fits in that area.
Just kind of thinking outloud here. _________________ `20 SQ5

Actually sitting here and looking at it...
I would need to add to the top and not the bottom.
As the fridge would not be able to be raised due to its depth.
So looks like it would be a full custom build.
Which is in my wheelhouse.
But for me, the key would be to keep it looking factory.
Hmmmm. _________________ `20 SQ5

What about the window? You don't want to be blocking it.

True. The closed top is below the actual
Window glass about 2.5 inches now.
So it would only be ~2” over. _________________ `20 SQ5

I'm not near a westy, but, would you still be able to reach the window catch, the next thing, how far back do you have the seat, I find that the drivers seat hangs over the top of the counter top, so if the top were higher, I would need to sit closers to the steering wheel, and I like to sit as far away from the wheel as possible. _________________ markswagen {mobile mechanic} san diego area all early VW's cared for.

At the risk of stating the obvious, don’t forget your sink drain and propane line. You might luck out and be able to futz the drain line. On my westy, however, there is no real play in the feed line to the stove. If you raised the kitchen I would bet that you’d have to plumb in an extension to get the propane lines to connect. |
