Hey guys,
1983.5 westy originally watercooled PO put a split window 2.
0 aircooled engine in it and that's not going to cut it. I am swapping a ej25 into it and I figured I would share.

Pulled leaking oil heater and replaced with a 20MM nipple for clearance

Next was plugging the coolant line that went to the heater.

I have seen some people use a rubber plug but I was not feeling that. It takes a 28MM plug which is surprisingly hard to find without ordering and a long lead time when ordered. So grinded off the hose end drilled and tapped it to 1/4npt and put a plug in it. I figured I could always put a coolant sensor in it later if I want

You can see above the oil heater that is has leaked a little but that is the only sign of leaking. I will be removing the heads and getting them resurfaced next.better safe than sorry.

I think I have stripped everything I need off of the suby Is there anything you see that I would need before I junk it? Anybody that has done this swap is there anything you wished you had taken?

I'd grab as much hardware as possible. For example those hose clamps shown in picture are pretty sweet. Depending on time and storage space you could resell many items
