Do what you can to get the old one out.
Clean the grooves-really well there's gunk in there. Make sure the groove tabs are not bent or squished down.
Now the fun part, find a lube (silicone, wd-40, liquid wrench) that works on the new rubber with out dissolving it. Start at one end and start working it around, probably sitting inside the engine bay. You might use a couple pairs of pliers, needle nose and screw drivers to help pull and push, you will chew up the end a bit but you can cut that off later. Use the screw driver to work the rubber trim around under the flap.
Stretch and pull, stretch and pull, when you stretch it will move in the groove a little. About 2 hours later Viola! You have a new rubber seals! _________________ '56 pan Dune Buggy since '69

Got old out that was easy, never would of thought you slide it all the way around. Do you pry the track out at all or just stretch and pull ? Not sure what previous owner did to get old ne in, have not inspected track yet |

I recently replaced mine by prying it in with plastic pry tools after trying to feed it in.
It got easier as I went and I was far more successful. _________________ 70 Sunroof Kombi

A heat gun may help also, both to remove and install. _________________ 70 Sunroof Kombi

Not sure if i should ask what is kentucky jelly, sounds like a choir maybe thats why few talk about it, appreciate the head start, going to do a serious de-grease of bay and jump on it while motor is being built |

KY jelly...water soluble lubrication....used often for coitus and other promiscuous activities to avoid chaffing, hot spots and to increase enjoyment of said activities. _________________ '56 pan Dune Buggy since '69
