I found some Baltic Birch to replace the headliner in my Westfalia this winter. I wondering what has been used for insulation. I am a retired auto upholstererso have used sound deadening material but not much for doors and hatches. Thinking about ridged foam in different thickness?

Most use the foil backed sticky sound deadener.

I like automotive jute similar to original, thick, plush, and cheap. Use it under carpet and headliner. The thicker the better. And it can eventually dry out after getting wet.
