|
|
I had to turn down the OG drums on my 65. It was pulsing and out of round. Post turning, the ID measures 234mm. Right now, I just need to be able to drive it about 50-100km/mo -- in slow city traffic. Will be stripping the car down for a full rebuild in a few months.
How bad is 234mm vs. original spec? I'm thinking it should be ok for the use I have in mind until I do full pan-off in a few months. By then I can source some good German drums I hope.

Should be fine for temporary but its beyond its limits by specs.

Wear limit is 231.5mm, so 234 is pretty big.
The problem is when you exceed the limit is besides getting hotter and fading quicker, when you adjust the shoes they ride out too far and slip off the shoe support pads on the backing plates. This puts the shoes at an angle thus causing less contact area and possibly a clicking sound when braking. _________________ -Bruce
