|
|
I am thinking of mounting deluxe trim on my 76 bus, then I want the "correct" trim, the trim who goes in a straight line in the same height as the door handels and fuel flap, not the one who sit on the wasteline. It seems really hard to get an original one.
Do anyone know if they reproduce them, and where can I buy them them? Preferably in Europe... _________________ Why have a good looking face? You can't even see your own face! |

never seen one. I have seen decal sets or rubber strips that do that. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

There are no reproductions of this - and most originals have the problem that the black plastic of the rails has shrunk and the end caps have bent more or less.
At best you need 2 to 3 sets of these used parts to have a good one.
I the last decade I saw only one NOS set - it was sold in minutes for a high price
It was original only at the "L Bus" (Luxury bus model for Europe with a lot of chrome trim outside and inside and other additional parts).
For a reproduction it is to complex and the market to small.
Stainless steel with plastic and plastic caps for 7 trim strips (3 left, 4 right).

that looks to be a Europe only thing. I have seen that on (late) buses on that side of the pond.
that looks *really* close to USA spec german built MK1 cabriolets and jettas…
tiny bit different, but you may want to look into it to see if that would scratch the itch. you may be able to grab the longer pieces from the rear 1/4 panels of a cabriolet and 2 door jetta.
the clip holes may not work on the mk1 moldings, I think they are a bit smaller judging by the photos here _________________

Thanks for the correction. I used to be a nice guy, then I ruined it by exposing myself to the public. |

Thank you for the answers,
So the only option is to find some originals? Then it is just to start searching after some in acceptable condition for a decent price.
I am thinking of making my bus (a kleinbus) to look like a deluxe, put deluxe trim, chrome bumpers and maybe aluminium inserts in the window seals. _________________ Why have a good looking face? You can't even see your own face! |

That is really useful info there for future reference, cheers Skills. I will have to take a closer interest in what the water cooled autojumble stalls are selling in their stashes from now on.
EliasP, you can always try putting a wanted ad on https://forums.kombiclub.com/
The T2b Australian CKD kit buses manufactured and exported from Hannover in Germany to the Clayton plant in Australia for final assembly were L deluxe bodies with the trim.
